Dont tell us it was one of Forshaw's wagons wot squashed the Robin! Bet there was hell to pay back at the office!
Ozy, It looks like the load has stuck in the O.S.of the body
soil is not a good load to tip I have seen a lot of bodies
tipped off that were carrying soil D.C.
Yeah, difficult phone call there veebee and no mistake. I think those S80s with the twin rams had a bit of a reputation for lying down Derrick, something to do with the length of the top rams, or so I've been told.
The real cause of tipper trucks to turn over whilst tipping on uneven ground. When we were coal bagging round the streets, you had to take the bags off each side at a time. If you didn't the wagon would lean to one side. Ozymandias, if their is a Wigan connection it's ok. Clearly, as you say, the driver was from Marsh Green.
Who did you bag coal for Garry?, it wouldn't have been Harry Whalley from Poolstock by any chance would it?. I remember they had about three wagons and I think they were all Commer two strokes. They were still going in the early 70's I believe. Regards. Ozy.
No we didn't have rubbish Commers, we had Austin and Bedfords. I worked for myself coaling, this is just one of many jobs I've had in my working life.
O.K then, that's me told. Just asking.
