Why has the single decker not have the two green lights either side of the destination board that was unique to Wigan Corporation buses?. Is it a fake?

The double decker was withdrawn by Wigan Corporation in November 1969 and the single decker lasted until 1972. So this would date the photo tpo the mid-1960s I would say. The jaguar car to the left of the single decker has a reverse registration which was used in the early 1960s, up to 1964ish.

I have no doubt that you're correct Stuart, as you certainly appear to know your stuff, but flippin' 'eck, I can't even see the registration on the 'Jag', let alone the fact that it's reversed. Could you possibly elaborate on that my friend as it's something that has quite evidently escaped my notice.

I bet theres not to many Wiganers who will know where High Moor and Robin Hood are.

Eddie. I can't make out the actual reg number but if you look there are 4 digits, a space, then 2 digits, The only time the authorities issued reg numbers like that was the early 60s. The first four digits are numbers followed by two letters, hence the reverse from the normal (up to then) two or three letters followed by numbers.

Hope that explains it.

Mick. Go straight on at Dangerous Corner (the one past Appley Bridge not the one near Hindley Green) from Appley Bridge and High Moor was the little village at the T junction and along High Moor Lane. From what I remember, the bus actually turned round at the Rigbye Arma along High Moor Lane.
