Two engines ready to be scrapped? at the Mains Colliery Abram in 1961.

I didn't think that Colliery was in Abram. I thought it was Bamfurlong. The Maypole was in Abram and I think that closed before 1961.

Broadly,
You are correct, Mains was in Bamfurlong, Bryn Gates to be exact, but, as you know under Abram Council. Mains Colliery closed some time before The Maypole, which I believe closed at the end of the 50s.

It's not so often I'm right but I'm wrong again. Having checked my afterthoughts it would appear Mains closed after The Maypole.

Aubrey. I know you will come back to this subject, and it is the only way that I can contact you. I received an email from my cousin, Aileen Winstanley, ne Jackson. She had seen it somewhere, that we knew each other quite well. Apparently Aileen at one time worked with Jean. Sorry to have deviated from the main subject. I apologize.

Albert,
Yes Jean did work with Aileen at Heinz in the early 60s, they now go to the same line dancing sessions. Jean will give Aileen our contact details next Monday. Do keep in touch.

Thanks Aubrey. Look forward to getting them.

It's not Mains - it's John Pit loco shed with No 2, John and (just visible) a Wigan Coal saddle tank. No 2 did work again, even after the railway officially closed, shunting old wagons and salvaged materials.
