i have a similar photo from the year before (1967) in answer to the question Walmsleys manufactured and installed papermaking machinary. At one time they were the world leaders in this type of engineering, but now sadly nomore

That's me back row white shirt, braces, light hair next to Bill Aldridge. I can name most of the lads from Wigan but only a few of the Bury & Bolton lot. Happy days.

The picture was actually taken in 1969 just before we left to take up jobs on the relevant factory floor. The lads not wearing overalls were the Technician Apprentices, mainly draughtsmen, but I was the only one to go into the Estimating Office. The site is the old Pattern Shop at Bolton just down the hill from the Foundry off Crompton Way.
