40009 & 40196 stand in the sun outside the depot at Springs Branch 20th November 1983. Looks like what I think was Bert Peck's car was also on shed for attention, possibly just a wash!

mick where you been ? not seen any pictures for a while what can i say 2 class 40's looking mean at the front of the branch ggggrrrrrrrr hear um growl (MICK CAN I ASK A FAVOUR IS IT OK IF I PUT THESE PICCYS OF CLASS 40'S ON THE CLASS 40 APPRECIATION SITE I'LL CREDIT THEM TO YOU AND I WONT GET PAID FOR THEM AND THEY WONT BE PUBLISHED ANYWHERE ELSE WITHOUT THEM TELLING ME)

Bert probably built that hillman.he could weld sawdust and helped everyone.I still remember vic the foremans cry for help when things went adrift.peck peck peck!

Mick I was in the the same intake.I remember you and some other lads from Springs Branch.Phil Butler R.I.P was a good schoolmate of mine,John Watkinson and Graham Marsh?There were 50 odd lads in that year and it is hard to remember most of them.Enjoyed every minute working for BR.Good photo.

Pwesthead I remember them all well especially Phil who was a good friend of mine, sad that he went so young. I also enjoyed my railway career but I was glad to go in the end(I retired 4 years ago), no longer the railway that I knew and loved!!
