i was up in this box the other week it hasnt changed much looking at this piccy the only thing missing (out of shot) is the single line token machine.they still pass the key to the driver useing a pole with an hook on it .its due to be shut in 2018 along with wigan wallgate parbold burscough bridge. thats what it says is gonna happen but who knows .

Looks much later than 1970 as the signalman is wearing the late 1980s early 1990s uniform and striped shirt.also the up distant is out of use that was taken out of use in the early 1980s.
Very good photo though.
