Nice, Tony. When was this photo taken?

The photo was actually taken by Adrian Vaughan, a signalman on the Western Region. Adrian was the author of 3 signalling books. 1 Signalmans Morning, 2 Signalmans Nightmare and one other the name I cannot think of, but I have it somewhere. He signed all three copies for me.
In answer to your question. 1965.
Note the little bits of cardboard stuck behind the plastic. (centre right)
These were made from Woodbine packets and used to indicate to us signalmen how many coaches were stabled in the three sidings behind the box.
(Goodness knows what would have happened had there been no smokers on duty, but as signalmen are an innovative breed, someone would have devised a unique system no doubt, to solve the situation.)

Adrian's third book was 'Signalman's Twilight'.
