The PRODIGY the best vehicle made by Walkers,produced for around 20 years and supplied to 36 councils, from Bath to Woolwich including Wigan. Short wheelbase for small turning circle,small wheels for low loading. The last one completed in about 1947.

Has this engineering company ceased to exist? If so,such a wealth of engineering know how, and a workforce of very skilled engineers has been lost.It is a travesty ,if such expertise in engineering has been allowed to become defunct. It seems to be the case in many other engineering fields.There does not seem to be any logic in it, whatsoever.

Sorry. Travesty is the wrong word to use. I should have used the word Tragedy, and certainly with a capital "T".

Does anyone know aprox when these would last have been seen working around the Wigan area?
