Staff Members from the Wigan Observer pose for the camera more than 70 years ago. My grandad Robert (3rd from the right back row) spent 56 years as a printer for the Observer, 40 years as Machine Manager, he retired in 1960. He died in 1979, aged 86.

I wouldn't like to argue with that lot.
Hi Colin, I worked with Tommy Harlow(your Dad?) at the Observer from 1973 to 1983. He was a dry as a bone, had a wicked sense of humour and constantly made me laugh at his sledgehammer wit! I was the 'Scarce Git' he always used to take the mick out of!
