Traditional front page, full of advertisments, and printed in this format, the 97-year-old Victory rotary press has rolled off 43,747 copies of the Wigan Observer for the last time, on Friday 21 January 1966. The paper cost (4d) fourpence. So what's on the front page: Room at the Top in Market st, Lamberhead Green Workingmens Club-Pemberton, Casino Club Station road, A.L. Gibson, Carpet sales, Ravine Club Pemberton, Poolstock Cricket Club and many more. It had two full pages of picture houses (Cinemas) as their known today. Other pages were Council meetings and Court reports, Weddings and car sales etc etc. The 10 column Observer was 44 inches wide when opened out.
