Hi Dave, Don(Armstrong) thinks the man on the right of the picture is Jimmy Austin
The one in the middle is Bob Holmes, on the right is Jimmy Austin.
Good photo Wally very youthfull looking there just stepping out into the big world
NEVER KNEW YOU WORKED AT KIRKLESS, COULD GUY ON THE RIGHT BE REGGIE MILLER? WORKED AT PLANK LANE WHITH US,THIS IS 4YEARS BEFORE I STARTED.
The man on the right is definitely Jimmy Austin ( my dad )
and the bloke in the middle is Bob Holmes, sorry dont know who the bloke on the left is, before my time, only started at kirkless as apprentice in 1976.
I worked in the cutter shop about that time, and later in the conveyor shop. Alf Monks was in charge of the conveyor shop then.
on the left looks like a young mick mcveigh
Could the lad on the left be Glyn Richardson
I worked as an apprentice in the Electric Shop at Kirkless from 1966 to 1971 with Jimmy Austin. I think the young lad is an apprentice by the name of Alf ........? from Upholland?
Alf Ramsey, that was his name - how could I forget that?
If it is him.
The kid on left is me, flattered you thought Glyn he was good looking kid
What years were you at Kirkless Dave?
dont really know Paul, approx 66 67? i only remem a young kiddy drowned in canal that summer
Am I right in thinking you played for Wigan R.L.
Paul you may be thinking of Johnny Whittle about 2 years younger he was at Plank Lane when i was and he was playing for A team then.
Yes I remember him now- he came to Kirkless only for a short time. He had broken into the first team then.
Thanks
Dave
Jimmy Austin lived at end of first row of houses on left after commercial. He was good friends with my dad Jimmy Grindley
Yeah that`s my Dad on the right hand side Jimmy Austin, what a surprise. We`ve got a copy of this photo too.
The man on the right in this photo is my dad Jimmy Austin, and what a great man he was. We lost him suddenly in 1984 during the miners strike. The man in the middle is Bob Holmes, one of my dad's best friends.
Jimmy/Linda/Tracy Brilliant to see a photo of of your Dad after all these years!! (He was my favorite uncle)
