How did you get in?
Perhaps a bit later than 1977 Keith. The building that was Molly Fairhurst's cafe (extreme right of pic next to chippy)has been converted to a dwelling. The cafe, with its old shopfront was still there in 1978 and 79.
The property on the left, where the motorbike is. Did that used to be (GLOVERS FISHING SHOP)? I no it was on that row somewhere but cant remember where. can anyone help.
Think the fishing shop was near the bus stop Colin, the shop in the photo was a toffee shop at one time (again I think) lol
Colin - Humphrey Glover's fishing tackle shop used to be at the right hand end, out of camera shot.
memories of union bridge shops: Hampson's at the end then later The Pie Shop, Cunninghams butchers, Fishing shop, Fosters hair (still there), The Cafe, Chippy (still there), Toffee shop, Oh and Fergy's barber shop.
Glover's fishing shop was where the pelican crossing is now.
It is now MENZONE hairdressers
