I was at HAGS from 1951 to 1956, but I didn't go on this camp. But I do remember well Maths master Jack Sharratt, and Joey Corner. Did any of the boys there feature in the school football team that won every match one season ? (1954/55, I'd guess) That had Les Mather, Syd Farrimond, Alan Hodgkinson ("Lodge") Byrne, and Alan Gerhold, that I can remember. Quite a few of that team went on to play professionally, I think.
i was not at camp i was goalkeeper for unbeaten team.i later signed for burnley{rather unsuccesfully)
I was at H.A.G.S from 1956 to 1960
I used to go to the Easter camp at the New Hall, Grasmere and remember scoring two goals against the local lads. Dave Ramsden (Pecker)was a particular friend. I've still got photographs, we used to sail to a small island in Grasmere Lake and christened it "Marrowland".
Tears in the eyes as I recall it.
Fond memories.
I was the centre forward and was the captain on the team in 1955 at Grasmere I now live in Nottingham would love to hear from anyone
I was at HAGS 58 to 63.I was taught French by Mrs Hodgkinson, wonder if this teacher was Alan`s mother?
I was Susan Williams during these years and well remember my terror of the maths master, Jack Sharrott. I was like a rabbit in the headlights when he asked me a question. I think I got 2% in geometry once, but that was with the short, bald-headed teacher who used to pull boys' short hairs by their ears when he was annoyed with them....He'd be sacked these days (one hopes).
