Would like to get it put back in the Linacre Centre where it belongs
So many memories. First day when all was new. Then the last Assembly of the school year when somebody would always feint and fall to the floor, Then before I knew where the time had gone it was my last day and I could understand why even big boys cried when we sang "Lord dismiss us with thy blessing".
Carolaen wrote, "the last Assembly of the school year when somebody would always feint and fall to the floor"
And you went to 'grammar' school?
Forgot to mention it has BAKER and WIGAN on the face and it has a SMITHS electric movement.
Possibly supplied by Bakers, the jewelers?
James. Yes - they feinted to the side of the person on front before falling to the floor. A good trick. Sorry about typo !
Carolaen don't take any notice of 'Professor' Hanson, it's fairly obvious it's a typo or predictive text!
That was usually me who feinted. Every last Assembly.
No precise information, but it was centered on the south wall, over the double doors.
what is the Hall (specifically) used for now? Is it still recognisable?
Incidentally, does anyone remember the pianist/organist* (I think it was an organ but could be wrong) playing the theme music from the Afred Hitchcock tv series when Mr. Nutt came in to assembly one time?
* I remember him as a pupil who was a very skilled musician whose nickname was "Yick" because he was from Haydock. I never knew his real name.
It has now been reinstalled in the Linacre Centre. i.e.The Grammar School It's in the passageway leading to the Blood Test and the stairs to the Audiology Depts. Above the cabinets with the school trophies etc.
