They look like nerds in this day and age but it was a good time to live in. I bet they had some interesting lives

David The guy in glasses was Philip "Pip" Harris. He was as made as a box of frogs. I remember he walked out of one Exam (O level maths probably) in the old school Hall after 5 minute saying I have had enough of this. He also brought is a very welcome hip flask when he was part of the stage crew for the Pirates of Penzance. There is a great picture of Pip on the 1969 School photo ( Item #: 19407 on this site) being his usual self.

The guy at the end was Ben (?) who I recall lived near Burscough and came in on the train every day. I was quite friendly with him for awhile as we had a mutual great friend in Steve Wright (another great character) but I just cant recall his surname at this length of time. Happy Days

I see what you mean Carolaen; mad as a March hare, but good to have 'onboard' - I've just had a look at him on the 69 school photo.

I wonder if they have retained their sense of fun - or did 'life' get in the way!

They just look like ordinary lads to me, regardless of the year (day and age)

David. I think it's probably 1967/8 ish given age of lads. By the look of the backdrop it looks like a Castle - perhaps from when they did Macbeth ? (You were there !!) I remember some fantastic productions particularly Toad of Toad Hall.

More likely to be 1967 I think, I left in 1068 to start an apprenticeship at J T Harvey in New Springs. I hardly remember any of the productions that I did the stage lighting for, I kept all the programs but they got lost during a house move to Spain in 2000. Two I vaguely recall were "The Importance of Being Earnest" and "Oh What A Lovely War"

I was stage crew for Pirates of Penzance. The highlight was we wallpapered to he entire back wall of the stage and painted the view out to sea on it. It would be my last year at school (1968). We teamed up with girls from WGHS and had a big party at our Flat in Woodcock House. That was till mum came home unexpectedly early to find bodies in bedrooms and bathroom.
