Graham or Vance as he liked to be know attended Manchester College of Art when I was there in the late 60s and I used to give him a lift into College on a weekly basis. He was once in the Guiness Book of Records for riding the "Bobs" at Belle Vue for 24 Hours non stop. Sadly no longer with us in rather tragic circumstances.

A chap called Paul Robinson and I took Graham on his first rock climb at Stoney Middleton. I last saw him with school kids on top of Pen-y-ghent in Dales. It certainly was tragic circumstances

I remember Vance from the middle 60’s, when we were both at Wigan Art school, he was a little older than me. He lived with his grandma, mother and sister in Dingle Street. His parents were separated, and I once went with him to Manchester to visit his estranged father and the woman he lived with. His father was a journalist on the Manchester newspaper.
Vance went to Manchester art school, and I went off to Leicester Uni.

I bumped into him at a party in about 1968, when I was home for the holidays. Sharp as ever, It was a pleasure to see him.

I used to rock climb with Graham in the mid 70's. We had some superb days out in the Peak District, usually travelling in his Jag. I was very sad to learn of the circumstances surrounding his passing.
