There still is Coal Pit Lane in Bickerstaffe . The pit there is listed as "Abandoned" in 1936.

It will be Bickershaw Colliery,(Plank Lane). Bickerstaffe Colliery which was right by the M58 at it's junction with the Rainford Bypass, was abandoned in 1936.

It was Bickershaw Colliery at Plank Lane. Members of the 6th form interested in a career in mining engineering plus several miners. Tom Davies 4th from left in back row and Taylor 7th from left.
Front row 3rd from left is Wilkinson, the head boy.
