Knew Jack Heyes 'Owd Block' in his later years.
You could set your watch by the time he came in The Owl at UpHolland every night.

I think that the teachers name is Beddard. He used to play rugby with us pupils and he played a hard game. The chap next to Owd Block is Adrian Sharples and lived in the same street as me in Lower Ince. The tall guy in the middle row is Fred Hough.Third from right middle row is Smalley(Can't remember his first name) he worked on the railway at Springs Branch. The lad to his right also worked at Springs Branch. His name is Derek Gibson and he is a regular poster on this site.I really should know more names - but time can be a thief!

Does anyone recall what the years were, that the following teachers' retired, or left Spring View School?
1 Mr Tatum. 2 Mr Hilton. 3 Mr Anderton. 4 Mr Grange. & 5 Mr Jolley.

I used to see Mr Anderton occasionally, in the early sixties, when I was on the Pemberton beat.

Frank Beddard was a small bloke who played hooker for one of the junior teams at Orrell. He was brought up in a cottage by the side of the Station Hotel on Church St, Orrell.

Frank Beddard was my grandad and such a well love man. He died when I was only a baby (from a heart attack). He lived on Heyes Road in Orrell with my nanna Eileen Beddard. Frank loved being a teacher.
