Here is the school photo for 1954 soon after the school opened. It was sent to me by a friend and ex pupil. Prof. Leonard Dissado. Just to prove we weren't all scallywags <g> (http://www.le.ac.uk/engineering/research/groups/power/staff/dissado.html)
Can you recognise yourself or anyone ?

Brilliant. We always wondered what had happened to the school photo when reorganisation came about.

Reorganisation RG? this is only 1954, the school had only been open 12 months. There are one or two more 'full school' photos after this one, i'm sure, certainly one in 1958.

Yes I know Roy but this may have been the first school photo after the school opened and which was of interest to us. I did leave a comment asking about school photos quite a few years ago on the Linacre site, so was good to see this one. Thank you Len.

Roy.
What's the boys name who is on the extreme left as you look at the photo, on the next to the back row He has a birth mark under his right eye.

Hi Brian he's another Brian, Brian Jerstice.

Sorry RG, i see what you mean. This must have been the first 'whole school' photo, as you know the school opened in Sept 1953 and i cant imagine any being taken until Spring or Summer 1954.

Roy.
I might be mistaken but didn't he have a tragic accident later on in life, or am I on the wrong person altogether

Comment by: Roy on 20th December 2014 at 19:21

Correct Brian, he was in a sky diving team, The Black Knights i think, on one dive his two parachutes failed to open and he did what's known in the sport as a Roman Candle and plunged to earth.

Yes this is th first whole school photo. The only other one that I have is 1958, which is already on the site. I think all the photos were taken in the summer. I remember racing about the sky diving accident, but never connected it with TLS. Coming from Prescot I was always a bit cut off from local interaction.
