What a great photo.

Good to see my contemporary, Peet, who also went to the Grammar School. His first name escapes after all these years but whose ever present smiling face is instantly recognisable.

These boys were all in my year at St Stephens I remember Duncan Franklin, Alan Ford, Jack Seddon and Jackie Dewhurst I am not certain but I think think it was John Peet

Thank you Kathy, it may well have been John but my grey cells are too far gone to remember.

I remember playing against St Stephens at about that time (I played for St Pats). Keith Mills was on the team we played against and Mather looks familiar. We played agaisnt them several times and I would put the date at 1952 or even 1953.

Played pats, cup semi final on all saints ground we lost,5-3 sticks in my head, Harold Postlethwaite had a perfectly good try ruled out by that well known homer ,former pats headmaster Mr Mcdermott ha.ha

Hi Bill,
I have a cutting from The Lancashire Evening Post dated 18th March, 1954 showing both the St Pats team and the St Stephens team. We played against each other in the first round of the Platt Cup and the game was drawn 3-3. That's why we played the fixture more than once. The St Stpehens team is given as:
K.Mills, R.Ollerton, G.Melling,D.Yates,W.Mather, K.Tudor, J.Mills, B. Hugill, A.Winstanley, H.Postlethwaite (capt), L.Frost, J.Ashurst and D.Guy.

The cutting doesn't have a very clear picture so it probably isn't suitable for putting on here.
