Now that's a piece of real Wigan ephemera - well worth seeing - especially as Sir Ian has been in town this week.
I did not know that Sir Ian was in town last week, I had a look on Wigantoday.net , and saw that he made a speech to school children saying " I have been acting for 50 years - 60 if you count my first performances as a boy". How's that for a coincidence, the concert at the Methodist School was 60 years ago this year!!
He kept a copy of the Programme, too: http://www.mckellen.com/stage/00541.htm
Thank you for the link, good to see that he kept a copy of the very same programme too. On another subject, do you have any Calendars produced by St Mary's Church, I am still using last year's which I had from you.
Yes, we have produced our Calendars again this year - one comprises 'Ancient & Modern' views of the Parish, and the other pictures of trains and engines, mainly at Springs Branch. They're £3 each..., from myself.
Ar there any other survivors from that School Concert in Dickinson Street?
Kenneth Wilkinson has posted some comments about photos of the Methodist school so is a survivor. I lost touch with people after leaving the Methodist School to go to the Girls High School in Wigan, and then on to University.
