Looks interesting but just where was/is Holgate Council School?

I would think it's the Holagate School at Orrell in Moore road. It was pulled down some 10 years or so ago. I went there until 1971.

I think this may be the original school, which was later Holgate Infants, on Church St - demolished a couple of years ago.

It is a photo of Holgate Council School which was in Moor Road, Orrell. My dad and his brothers, sisters and cousins are on this photo also my late husband's mother,aunts and uncles are there to.

Hi Jean do you happen to be Jean ne Ashcroft who came from Kitt Green and worked at Heinz in the 70s? if so we were freinds way back then.

No I am from Linden Ave: Orrell. The reason I put nee Ashcroft is because my sister in law is also called Jean Glover, very confusing.

I’ve been looking through the photos to see if I could find one of the old Orrell Holgate School. I didn’t realise that the original building has been demolished and a new school built to replace it. I began my teaching career there in 1969 when Jim Ward was the headteacher. I left in 1972. Any former pupils from that era still around?
