Me and my sister again. This time with Gran (Florrie) outside her house 14, Belle Green Lane which was next door to Ashursts pie shop.

do you or anyone you know have any photos of Ashurts pie shop, or Cains as it was also known?

Comment by: Stephen on 29th August 2008 at 18:42

Irene, Sorry i don't have any but it would be great to see some. I grew up with Rodney Ashurst, i'll try and get in touch with him to see if he has any. WATCH THIS SPACE

thanks Stephen. I'm in touch with Neil Cain, grandson of Mr Cain from the shop and he is in touch with Valerie Ashurst.I vaguely remember Rodney from Ince Central. A bit younger than me I think. Nice to talk to you.

my hubby says he knows you his name is alan taylor, he has a brother called david, they used to live in russell street and then they moved to west street, alan was in the school band at rose bridge.

Comment by: Stephen on 31st August 2008 at 21:32

Caztaly, I certainly remember both of them from school. I also played in the band and i also remember playing in a football team with them briefly. We used to train on Ince common and then go for a pint at the pub (can't remeber the name of it) that was on Manchester Rd just after the bridge past Ince Park on the left going towards Hindley (What a terrible description) I can remember Malc Perkins and his twin brother also played. How's Alan and David doing? I always thought Alan would end up an actor as he liked drama at school. Never a dull moment with Alan.

stephen, no I'm not from Belle Green Lane, i'm from Ince Green Lane opposite the Long Neck Pub. a little terraced row set back behind St Williams presbytery, long gone!

Comment by: Stephen on 1st September 2008 at 18:57

Caztaly, That sounds just like Alan, never a shrinking violet was he. Good on him. I can just imagine him stood on Ince bar waiting for his moment. Do Alan and David still fall out? lol. I remember mi mother coming home one night and telling me she'd just seen the two of 'em knocking lumps out of each other at the bottom of Belle Green Lane. Happy days.

Stephen did your sister go to Ince C of E Junior School? I know her name from somewhere and her face is very familiar. Ask her does she remember Kathleen McSorley.

Comment by: Stephen on 1st July 2009 at 20:28
