Albert,thank you for posting this series of photographs of the programme for the whit walks,they have brought back happy memories ! I think this year was the last time the parishes walked together .
Little did I know this was my last Whit walk!

This souvenir programme was passed on to me by my sister in law, Mrs Jenny Harte. She was Mayoress of Wigan, May, 1971 to May,1972. Her husband was, Councillor John Harte, J.P. ( R I P )
Albert, thanks for posting the full programme. It reminds one how huge the walking day was and gives those who aren't old enough to remember it some idea of the size, although to my recollection it was an even bigger event in the first few years after it was restarted after the war (about 1950?). St. Pat's section always had a special atmosphere, nearly all the bands they hired were pipe bands and as well as hymns, they played lots of Irish tunes like "the Wearin' of the Green". Happy memories.
