These were joyful occasions. I doubt as to whether they will occur again. The beautiful banners that were displayed will probably become valuable collectors items, in years to come.
It must have been a bit nippy that day: the ladies are wearing full-length coats!

Thanks Christine for posting a time that was.
I am the second child from the left. That year we were told our posies must be of yellow and blue Iris flowers. We had these growing in our front garden so my mum cobbled together an arrangement for me out of them rather than buy a posy! Sixty years later I can still remember the overpowering smell of flowers as we waited to set off on the walk.
What a wonderful memory Christine - and to have it recorded for posterity.

My aunt on right hand side she used to be a.sunday school teacher she has just turned 80 in April I will get it printed for her she will be delighted to see photo
Bruno, what was your aunt's name? How nice that this old photograph will bring her pleasure. I am grateful to her and so many others for the time they freely gave up for us.
My aunts name was Alice Robinson she went to the service at morning Sunday school at afternoon then evensong she loved St. Andrews she moved to leyland when she got married

I am on this photo. Second from left on second row. you can just see me between the two front row girls. Mrs Berry on left. I loved her. it was probably around 1955.
