looks like outside of wigan and leigh workshops for the blind in darlington st east
I agree and I also think it's a lovely photo.
Lovely to see the Blind Workshop again, and what lovely children!
I remember those baskets when I was in St Catherine's walking day and I think we picked them up from a shop in Schofield Lane.
What we used to call The Blind Steps still there John,,join Darlington St East and top of Birkett Bank,,, workshops used to form one side of them.they used to make large whicker/cane laundry skips,,,,amongst other things.Spent many hours playing up and down them steps through the 50,s
Thanks for the location! I should have known, walked many times with the BB at walking days. Remember the steps too. Didn't the pop group from Wigan The Verve(?)or some other such have a LP sleeve photo taken on those steps?
I think they did John and went in the Crispin.
Hi John
I think it was Oasis, they used it as a location fo an LP cover,,,not sure which one
Hi Jim, yes you could be right it may very well have been Oasis but like you don't know the LP name. Great group pity about the Gallagher brothers though, they don't seem to be very nice personalities. May be wrong though.
