Taken in Whelley, I think walking up from the Scholes end, the photo shows Mrs Owen, Evelyn Parkinson and mother-in-law Marian Stokes. Can anyone be more specific as to where taken?

Correct John, Teddy Forshaw's newsagent's visible on the left. George & Dragon public house is the light fronted building above the second ladies head.

Used to live in Wright St for a while '64 to '67 and I think the Co-op was there then. What was the name of the garage/petrol station that sat on the site where AP Cole is now. Used to get my petrol there at around 5s (25p)a GALLON not litre. Litres weren't even on the horizen then in the UK. Cost me 1d on the bus to get into Wigan as a school boy.

John, I think it was a branch of Mansfield Motors who had several filling stations around the town.
