I think Momac, David Marsh, Harry and other Wallgaters will recognise this place. It was probably taken around 1950

Momac, is this what you have been waiting to see, as I waited to see the site of my childhood home? I really hope it is.....I know what it means to you only too well. Irene. X.

Jean..you will never know what pleasure this has given me..I have been waiting to see a photo of our street for years..the gates at the back of you where I stood in the middle of,and the wind blew them shut..trapping my arm and broke it,another trip to R.A.E.I..I was a tomboy I know, much to my mams disgust..Jean I can still see you coming around the corner of the street with your School uniform on..and can still picture your Mum and Dad..we were talking to your Charlie a few years ago in Swinley..I hope he's keeping well, and hope you are too. The lady on the other photo was Mrs Ramsdale..had children Theresa, Joe, Bernard, and another one who's name slips my mind..thank you so much Jean for putting these shots on..I'm over the moon to see my old street again..I hope you've been reading the Wallgate thread.

Hello Irene..yes you are right..when I first saw these shots, a lump came in my throat..I was near to tears, did that happen to you when you saw your street..isn't it strange what childhood memories can do..especially happy ones....take care.x

Maureen, I know exactly what you mean about pictures of your old street etc. Before I got a computer I would never have thought that I could ever find a picture of School St in Scholes - the street I was born in. After years of being on Wiganworld, and hoping against hope, someone put a picture of it on! Not only that, the house I was born in was there right before my eyes. I was absolutely chuffed to pieces. Memories of childhood are so precious, and images of certain places and things bring it all back so strongly. Long live Wiganworld, eh.

How right you are, John.....that happened to me too; well, not exactly our front door, but I saw again the liitle terraced row where I was brought up. Long Live Wigan World indeed!
