Josie, Ernie's chippy was a bit further down Ince Green Lane than Brian's. It was in the row just before you turn right into Greenfield Avenue, the same row as Little Amy's off-licence. The row was demolished years ago, and I think there are new houses on the site now. Brian's chippy used to be the co-op.

Brian's Chippy was initially in the shop shown, before his move higher up IGL.

He probably took over Ernie's after we were moved to Platt Bridge when our house came under Compulsory Purchase. The Chippy shown in the photo was certainly Ernie's in the sixties, and the shop that is Now Brian's Chippy, corner of Amar Street, was in those days The Co-op.

brians chippy wasnt always where it is now , it was a bit further down.

You're right, Josie. The chippy in the pic was Ernie's in the EARLY sixties, (I was a regular!), but after Ernie, it became Brian's, and then Brian moved further up the lane into what had been the Co-op in my childhood.
