The banner is level with Sherrington's hardware shop on the corner of Scholefield Lane.
Ted Worthington's tobacconist, sweets and ice cream on the opposite side. My mum's shop (Mrs. Davies) was just along Scholefield Lane on the left.

Hi Beryl, I lived next door to your shop! Great picture.

Hi Jean,
Nice to hear from you.
I still walk up Scholes often, though it doesn't look the same now!

looking at this picture, was the vicar the rev Robinson or Corbett and is it George Mason at the front of the banner I would be grateful for any help with this.

Hi Eddy, your Grandfather (Uncle Ted) was my Grandmother's brother on my Father's side, which means your Dad, Uncle Donald, was my Father's full cousin. I remember visiting the shop on Wigan Lane after going to the Infirmary and Aunty Sally (your Granny) letting me choose sweeties to cheer me up :-) She always wore lots of big rings, she loved flamboyant jewellery! I even remember going to your Mum & Dad's Wedding as a small girl, together with my older sister, who by the way still lives in Wigan. Happy to deliver more info if required!
