If you look at the other photo Peter, its the old house next to the new bungalow. The farmhouse had to come down because the bypass 5225 was planned to go that way.The photo was taken about 25years ago, close to Seaman Way.
Is there where Jane Greens donkeys lived?
yeah, when i looked at the other pic i realised where it was.
its a shame when these places are knocked down, we lose so much of our past, all in the name of progress whatever that is
We used to call that Old Jane Greens farm, she used to buy scrap metal of us that we got from the wagon works, if I remember correctly
hiya everyone, i have only just got used to all this, and i love looking into everything about wigan espesially ince, i was born in hr ince, york st , top of bell green lane 1950 i am enjoying all your coments, just worked out how to talk to you all, regarding the farmhouse, my husband reckons that it was owned by a family named leech,in the very early sixties,as he went there a number of timesand knocked about with brian leech, he had an older brother and sister cant remember their names, but older brother worked in the park and chased us off for riding our bikes,my husband called for him one day and he said he cant come out as he had to clean the brasses for his mam, alan said he would help him, after a few hrs later we got our reward, two jam buttys, nowt wrong wi that.
