Went here on my bike in the late 50,s and two of us were allowed to row a boat round the pond to gather the dead wood that had blown in off the trees. I remember it well, also riding up Parbold hill on the way back.

Used to go on bike from Hindley but unlike Peter could not ride the B S A all the way up Parbold Hill.

Remember,in the 1940s being relieved to discover after a spill that the lake was very shallow

I remember walking around the the desolate remains of the Tea Garden in the 1980's, the overgrown pond was still there and few other reminders of what once had been.
Apparently it was quite a destination to go to in its Hey Day.
