Is still referred to as Clinker Valley?.
We always referred to the Spring View side of the railway line as Clinker Valley.
Always a pleasure to play there against a talented bunch of cricketers. Tom Green and his son Alan always had the ground in pristine condition.
ttd ,was Alan & his Dad from Spring View. Was Alan on the Books at Lancashire CC early 60/s. Went to Spring View School.
Jinksi they were from Spring View. I think you are getting Alan mixed up with David Green ex Lancs & Gloucester player.
ttd , your right sorry about that
Remember watching Billy Boston playing there early 60/s Fast Bowler think he played for Poolstock. Just see him running up to bowl would have been enough for me.
Tommy Green was a fitter at springs branch I was one of his apprentices in the sixty's.
That naked outfield must have been a mouth-watering prospect for metal detectorists - how many trinkets would have been spilled out there over the seasons. But then, there would have been the cinders to contend with.
