Built around 1188 and Standish Parish was formed in 1205. Close by is the railway line that had Standish Junction (Station) which closed in early 1950's. (Similar to my birth village)

Correct. The Village hall close by is over 700 years old and is still used today. What does my birth village have now?

Places called Standish can also be found in California, Maine and Michigan. Also a district of Duxbury, Massachusetts is called Standish Shores.

Yes, it is in Gloucestershire. I remember many years ago a picture of Standish Hospital that had people confused, that was before Google!!!!
I have been to Standish, Maine which is not far from Kennebunkport where I once worked and stayed and very pretty it is too.
