I have happy memories of picking my youngest son up from the
Bluecoat School..happy days..thank you Brian.
Memories of school days....Charlie Yates, Headmadter, Miss Chadwick, Miss Faulkener, Miss Burrows and Mr Hedley the Teachers and of course Mr Orgyll, the Caretaker
That is the Bluecoat Infant`s school on the right. I started there, aged 4, in 1932. One of the lady teachers threw the heavy duster used for cleaning the blackboard at anyone misbehaving. We had an afternoon nap under a blanket on a trestle bed.
Good on you, Ernest.
Sounds like some teachers that I also knew who threw the duster at us.
Reminds me of a lecturer many years later who placed a red brick on his desk. He made a big noise and the dust flew when he placed it there and warned the students that if they fell asleep during HIS lectures he would definitely throw this large, hard brick at them. No one believed him until one day a student fell asleep so he threw the brick through the air, directly at the sleeping student. It hit him on the head. No one had seen him replace the true brick with a light, foam brick...!!!!!!!!!
