The stonework on the front of the apex roof. Was it a bell ?
You've spotted it! I'm not sure if it was a bell or not.
Only been in the church once but passed many times going to my grandads up Ladies Lane.Nice to see very little traffic
The steeple, which appears to contain a belfry, looks like a later addition to tbe church, so the cupola on the roof apex quite possibly held a bell, before this addition was made.
A very attractive looking place of worship!
My Grandparents were the first couple to be married in this church in 1903
Sorry wrong church I thought it was St Johns Hindley Green. Must go to speck savers.
I have no idea if the steeple was added later. The rest if the building look very clean
The Rev. H Marsden ,who was vicar here taught me Religious education(RE) at H.A.G S. in the 40's and early 50's. He also taught Geography.

It is at the top of Market St on the junction of Ladies Lane and Bridge St.There is now traffic roundabout in front of the church
