Where did the road off to the left go D ? Not the Parish Church, or was that a bit higher up ?
D, Mary's shop you she would split a packet of cigarettes for you. So you would end up with five number 6 in a Regal packet. Those were the days!
Helen, The little road to the left was fairly new when this photo was taken, it leads to some houses not visible on the photo, the parish church is actually behind the building with the scaffolding.
Jimmy M, at one time Mary sold anything and everything, she would sell one egg, or one candle from a box.
Thanks D...I am sorry to say I am still not getting my bearings...give me time !
So this is not the hill that comes up from Abbey Lakes?
I may be having a mega senior moment but why are people saying the little road is to the left. My eyes are telling me it's to the right! Also, like Helen I can't fathom exactly where abouts it is.
Margaret - the road in question is the little access road which can be seen behind the traffic signals warning sign, running between the end of the house on the extreme left, and the wooden fence.
I have posted a map in the UpHolland section, which shows the location of this pic.
