My Father George Roughley pictured in the 1951 team photo sadly passed away on Saturday 15th January 2011. His days with Wigan Rugby League were some of the happiest of his life and seeing photographs of his playing days certainly makes me feel proud and I understand why he was so passionate about the game and playing for his beloved Cherry and Whites. If anyone has any further memories of him or photographs or TV footage I would love to hear from you.

I last saw George in 2003 at my parents Golden Wedding Anniversary. He had been friend and best man to my father Geoffrey Tilling. We lost touch with George after this and my father has often wondered where he went.
Please accept our very belated condolences from the Tilling family, to you and your brothers (?) as well

Looks like it was a home match against Dewsbury on March 31st 1951, Wigan won 12 - 2

I worked with George from 1979 - 84. He was most genuine and helpful of men. We shared some great times and laughs together. Of course we lost touch but I’ve always remembered him particularly his warm smile.
