Spent many an afternoon here with my friend Paula Kearsley, we used to walk up from Highfield gathering friends along the way!

Elayne, did Paula Kearsley live on Kinlett road and have a sister Gillian?

I believe this photo is taken from the 1951 auction sale catalogue of Bankes Winstanley sale. I have a very poor copy of it labelled Lot 108. Lot 109 was Melling's farm. They were owned by two brothers. Samuel Alker born in 1848 had Holmes House farm and my great grandad William Alker born in 1850 had Melling's farm.

My grandad George Kearsley bought the farm in 1951, my late father also had a copy of the auction book. My grandad had been a tenant at the farm for years, and finally bought it. My Uncle Tom Kearsley was a tenant at mellings farm. Holmes house farm was developed in 1966, we then moved to Merton road in Highfield. Mellings farmhouse was demolished in 1976.

Hi, I'm Paula's sister, nee Kearsley, I have a copy of the catalogue with Holmes House Farm in it.
The farm was subject to a compulsory purchase order in the mid sixties.
