This is how I remember Wigan it's such a disappointment when I come back to visit these days !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Those were the days, happy days
I agree Kathy....just how I remember Wigan too. The queue outside the Ritz, spending pocket money in Woolworths. I have not yet had the pleasure (?) of seeing the new shopping complex.....
I spent quite a few hours waiting by the side of woolies, to pick my wife to be up in the early 60s, that was the only place she ever worked, she loved the place.
my mother was head usherette at the ritz in the 50s and 60s and i used to get complementary tickets even for the live shows like Buddy Holly and the Crickets and Cliff Richards and Tommy Steel and many more she even gave my sandwich to Des Oconner bless him because he was hungry [ so bloody well was i mam ] but i forgive you as it was a great show and you did get me all thier autographs pity i lost them over the years
The shop on the left turning into Library street was a record shop in 1960 anyone remember it
Yes, vaguely. At some point in the 60s it sold washers and spin dryers as I have a video, Bygone Wigan, which clearly shows the goods on display in the shop's side-window, which was on Library Street. Was it Broadmead's?
