This photo was taken during the occurrence of an astronomical feature; it was completely dark outside!
Some of the girls (those with 'very' vivid imaginations)were all-over the shop telling us
"the end of the world is nigh."
John Bond was my cousin and he passed away a few years ago.
It is sad news indeed to have been told that John Bond had died. I'll always remember how fearless John was during our inter-school soccer matches and also how he always dealt so efficiently with those dreaded opposition corner-kicks and free-kicks.
John was our left-back, and occasionally our left-half.
His younger brother Geoff was in the same class as me.
Hello Philip Geoff still lives Roby Mill.
I remember John Duckworth & Frank Baybutt from their previous school, St James' Road CP School. Thanks for the memory!
What neat haircuts! I recall UpHolland Sec in the early 70s when Mr Clark was the headmaster. He used to stand outside the hall after assembly watching lads file out, if he though their hair was too long he would say "get it cut, if its touching your collar its too long!" A couple of years later after he retired lads were going about with hair down on their shoulders!
I remember most of these! I was there 1963-64. Phil Gormley lived in Billinge in London Fields. Didnt like that Hampson or Hogarth! John Duckworth had a sister Sandra who had the hots for me!!
