Originally the top of Market street down to the Crofters had been part of Hallgate. Due to the building of the Galleries. All the magnificent buildings have now gone. (Thanks to the money grabbing Wigan council) What a great hoarding board crammed full of adverts What would they be worth today????

The more I see of these old photographs the more I agree with you Ron. I wonder how much it would cost to rebuild some of those buildings now?

You can just about make out the old gas showrooms right at the bottom. Fabulous set of old photos.

At that time it was O.G.Rushtons warehouse.
