I used to go to the shop on the left for a 1d bag of broken biscuits. There must have been 2 or 3 lbs of biscuits, for 1d
A young lads dream. No wonder I'm a fat bugger....

lolol My weakness, Ron, was Invalid Toffee from the Santus toffee stall.... is it still there in the new one?

Hi Tricia, yep the toffee stall is still there. There is also a SANTUS toffee shop in Crompton Sreet. I don't know if they still sell Invalid Toffee? Yep I liked that too.

Hi Ron
Can't mention the name but when we were over in June I searched for ages for the stall my mother used and bought some black puddings and a meat pie. Could not wait to get back to my cousin's to eat them ... what a let-down.. they were both so awful. Also I could not find any LANCASHIRE cheese to take back with me !!!!!lolol Whatever next ???? They had some in a well known supermarket but the packets were all covered in bits of black something or other...

Didn't they have any in The Cheese Cabin in the Market Hall? Their Creamy Lancashire is delicious, and I'm sure they sell Crumbly Lancashire too.

I did not try the market ,Irene, but always get fed up of searching for stuff in there. I am always on a tight time frame as well. It also needed to be pre packed as we had a 3 day + car/ferry journey ahead of us. Will try there next time tho', Thank you for that. Could just do with some creamy Lancs..... and I have just eaten my last quarter inch of black spanish....will have to come back sap By the way, Josie, I struggled to buy pkts of dried peas as well. Finally found some expensive ones at the Supermarket in Aspull... again no names to protect the innocent lol I will say, tho, that I tried 2 Asdas and 3 Morrison's plus 2 Tesco's first 'we don't have much call for those these days', is what the lady in Asda told me .........

Just bought some dried peas from Morrisons. Do you never go to Chorley market. Brilliant cheese stall (next door but one to Burton's shop) and the Lancashire creamy is second to none.
